Who is Michio Kaku?

Michio Kaku is a theoretical physicist and futurist who several people consider a prophet, visionary, and major influencer of his time. The central figure behind string theory, Kaku co-founded String Field Theory. That is an attempt to unify the fundamental forces of nature into one overriding framework.

Besides his groundbreaking work in physics, Kaku is a prolific author with bestsellers like “Physics of the Impossible” and “The Future of the Mind,” books in which he probes the outer bounds of science and the potentials for the future of humanity. His is a vision much larger than the academic, though, for he believes science can and will, in the future, conquer the riddles of the universe from consciousness to the multi-dimensional universe. One of the most famous science communicators in the world, Kaku has made guest appearances on innumerable TV and radio programs.

What Kaku Predicts for Our Future: A High-Tech World

Michio Kaku paints a future where every aspect of our lives is going to be changed by technology, all the way to what we today may consider to be science fiction. His wide-spanning predictions range from transportation to the colonization of the moon and beyond, all within a world where digital and robotic advancements change the way we live, work, and relate to others.

The Changes in Transportation: Cars as Robots

According to Kaku, cars will be an area where the takeover by the robotics industry is complete. For example, he envisions a future in which cars would cease to be mechanisms but become intelligent robots that could drive themselves, park themselves, and using their own form of intelligence talk to their master. Kaku further advances the thesis that it will no longer be necessary for anyone to actually own a car; once he summons a car with his wristwatch, the car arrives to pick him up, and once he alights at his destination, the car, using its own intelligence, will find itself a parking space to park itself as he walks to his final destination. For instance, this switch will also affect insurance rates, since incidences of a car crash have long seized to exist. Kaku even envisions flying cars to be possible, and Uber is already developing that kind of technology, specifically in a place like Dubai, where such technology is not very far away.

Supersonic and Space Travel: From Earth to the Stars

Kaku also believes that supersonic travel will make a comeback, allowing people to travel around the world in just a few hours. Unlike the Concorde, whose problem was sonic booms, due to dated technology, future versions of the supersonic plane would integrate state-of-the-art supercomputers that would reduce these issues and make fast global travel more accessible, with one even being able to have breakfast in New York, lunch in Tokyo, and dinner back in New York on the very same day.

Kaku is hopeful that humans, in time, may even venture to the Moon and Mars. He demonstrates how advanced we are getting with our space missionsβ€”for example, the SLS booster rocket, which could possibly orbit the Moonβ€”and how, at this moment, Elon Musk desires to design a rocket hilarious to humanity, the very cleverly termed “BFR” that is actually meant to take humans to Mars.

Michio Kaku saw that the future lay when robotics, artificial intelligence, and space exploration would merge. These keynote changes will drive through entirely new industries and redefine the human experienceβ€”putting our world at new levels of interweaving, efficacy, and advance over any point beforehand.
