Climate Change: UN Summit Delivers New Resolutions:

         The UN Climate Summit concluded its meeting in Nairobi, Kenya, today, with members coming up with an ambitious set of targets that will help avert global warming. A 45 percent reduction in greenhouse gases within the next decade and increasing funding for sustainable energy projects in developing nations topped the new resolutions. United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres stressed that the time is now for cooperative action on a global scale, telling them, “The window to prevent catastrophic climate impacts is rapidly closing.”.

 

Economic Update: 

         It has been a rollercoaster session in global equity markets today after the U.S. Federal Reserve decided to raise interest rates by 0.25%. This move, though expected to check out the rising levels of inflation, had an instantaneous reaction in financial markets. The Dow Jones opened 1.2% lower, while mixed reactions ended European and Asian markets yesterday. Analysts are still looking forward to more fluctuations as the world adjusts to tighter monetary policies.
