Have you ever questioned why your pictures don’t look as cool as a photographer’s, even when using the latest iPhone?

Then here’s why?

You must have probably missed out on one of these hacks!

1.) Has anyone told you that cleaning your lens is the basic hack for smartphone photography?

I know it sounds lame. But it is. Here’s why?

#Dust and Fingerprint smudged on the lens will eventually scatter the light entering the lens and result in blurry images.

2.) Have you heard of “The Rule of Three”

It is a simple technique where you switch on the grid lines in your smart phone, where 2 horizontal lines and 2 vertical lines appear on the screen, intersecting each other.

3.) The low angle shot is a must try! They give a larger than real effect.

Put your camera on the ground and lie down to shoot the subject. Shoot multiple shots to choose the best.

Try to capture the image with the sun as a backlight, by choosing an angle accordingly.

4.) Get as physically close  to the subject.

Zooming in on the subject would reduce the quality of the image missing out on details and texture of the image. Getting close to the subject would add depth and emotion to the image, capturing subtle facial expressions, textures, and details that reveal their story.

It creates a sense of vulnerability and connection, drawing the viewer in. Fill the frame with your subject, using the environment to enhance their narrative, and experiment with angles to add dynamism.

5.)Adjusting the exposure

Lock the exposure of the smart phone and then alter the exposure. Smartphones tend to auto correct themselves, which they are not photographically good at. You could do this by holding on to the subject of the screen to adjust the exposure (which is done by adjusting the +/- symbol) to change the exposure

Now that you know these simple yet effective hacks, why not give them a try? Clean your lens, switch on the grid lines, experiment with low-angle shots, get close to your subject, and adjust the exposure for the perfect photo. Put these tips into practice and watch your smartphone photography transform. Happy shooting!
